Ms. G. Anushiya Rachel has been a Project Officer in Speech Lab, SSN College of Engineering (SSNCE), Chennai, since July 2012. She earned her B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, from Jerusalem College of Engineering, Chennai (Anna University) and her M.E degree. in Applied Electronics from SSNCE (Anna University). She is currently pursuing her PhD, full-time, in SSNCE, under the guidance of Dr. T. Nagarajan and Dr. P. Vijayalakshmi.

Her primary areas of research include speech signal processing, text-to-speech synthesis, and speech recognition. Her PhD work focuses mainly on the estimation of glottal closure instants from speech signals using a phase-difference/conditional group delay-based approach, though she has also worked on speech prosody modification. As a Project Officer, she has worked on three projects to date: the MeitY-funded project on "Development of Text-to-Speech Synthesis Systems for Indian Languages", the Tamil Virtual Academy funded project on "Speech-enabled Interactive enquiry system in Tamil", and the Murasu Systems Sdn Bhd (Malaysia)-funded project on "HMM-based speech synthesis system for Malaysian Tamil". She has also worked on an SSN Trust funded project on developing a lab model for cochlear implants, as a part of her M.E. project. She has published 15 papers in conferences and journals, to date.
